Parent Visa

Following are multiple streams of Parent visas with their subclasses:

Aged Parent visa (subclass 804)

  • This is a permanent visa and it lets an older person stay in Australia as a permanent resident.

  • Eligible applicants can also apply for Australian citizenship

  • Form 40 is available for the sponsors

  • A sponsor must agree to support the applicant and their family for the first two years.

Contributory Parent visa (subclass 143)

  • Australian residents citizens or eligible New Zealand citizens can apply for this visa for their parents.

  • This is a permanent visa and allows the applicants to move to Australian permanently

  • Applicants must pass the eligibility criteria

  • They must meet the family ratio test also known as balance-of-family

  • Assurance of support is necessary

Contributory Aged Parent visa (subclass 864)

  • This is a permanent visa

  • Allows the applicant to work and study in Australia

  • You can participate in Australia’s health care scheme

  • Must be old enough to receive an age pension in Australia

  • Must have an eligible child who is settled in Australia and hold Australian permanent residency or citizenship

Sponsored Parent visa (Temporary) (subclass 870)

  • This temporary visa lets you visit Australia for up to 3 to 5 years

  • Can apply for further visas to visit up to a maximum period in Australia of 10 years

  • You cannot work in Australia with this visa

  • The processing timeframe varies from 58 days to 24 months
